Construction and design of the Dell PowerEdge R760 server
The Dell PowerEdge R760 server is a 2U rack server with a height of 86.8 mm and a width of 482 mm. Its depth can be 772.13mm with the bezel or, as shown below, 758.29mm without it. 24 compartments for 2.5-inch drives occupy the entire front panel.
- On the front panel there are: a USB Micro-AB port for the iDRAC control controller, a USB 2.0 port and a VGA video output.
- Drives are easily removed by pressing the locking buttons and then released from the holders. Each drive has LED status and activity indicators. The tab in the lower right corner with the name is a service label that slides out for easy identification of the server.
- The PowerEdge R760 service label slides out for easy server identification.
- On the back panel there are Ethernet ports for iDRAC remote control, USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and VGA. Our server does not have an additional serial port (Serial port).
- The R760 also features rear-panel NVMe BOSS boot drives. They are available hot (as in the photo below) and have a built-in RAID controller
- Air ducts for cooling and risers (risers - extensions for PCIe connectors) almost completely cover the printed circuit board. Air supply comes from six fans with a diameter of 4 cm.
- The two Xeon processors are equipped with massive radiators with special extensions that connect them close to the fans. Each processor takes up 16 DIMM slots. In a fully equipped state, this server supports up to 8 TB of RAM. The Dell PowerEdge R760 supports up to eight PCIe slots.
- Dell PowerEdge R760 has two slots for hot-swappable power supplies (there is a redundancy function when there is enough power). Power from 700 to 2800 W, ratings - 80 Plus Platinum or Titanium.
