Dell PowerEdge R760 Server Design and Build
The Dell PowerEdge R760 is a 2U rack server, measuring 86.8 mm high and 482 mm wide. It can be 772.13 mm deep with the bezel or, as shown below, 758.29 mm deep without it. The 24 2.5-inch drive bays occupy the entire front panel.
- The front panel features a USB Micro-AB port for the iDRAC management controller, a USB 2.0 port, and a VGA video output.
- The drives are easily removed by pressing the release buttons and then released from the holders. Each drive has LED status and activity indicators. The tab in the lower right corner with the name is a service tag that slides out for easy server identification.
- The PowerEdge R760 service label slides out for easy server identification.
- On the back panel are Ethernet ports for iDRAC remote management, USB 2.0, USB 3.0 and VGA. Our server does not have an additional serial port.
- The R760 also features NVMe BOSS boot drives on the rear panel. They are hot-swappable (as pictured below) and have a built-in RAID controller.
- Cooling ducts and risers (raiser - PCIe connector extensions) almost completely cover the printed circuit board. Air supply comes from six 4 cm diameter fans.
- The two Xeon processors are equipped with massive heatsinks with special extensions that connect them closely to the fans. Each processor takes up 16 DIMM slots. When fully configured, this server supports up to 8 TB of RAM. The Dell PowerEdge R760 supports up to eight PCIe slots.
- The Dell PowerEdge R760 has two hot-swappable power supply slots (with redundancy functionality when there is enough power). Power from 700 to 2800 W, ratings - 80 Plus Platinum or Titanium.
