Installing VMware ESXi 8.0 on a Dell Poweredge R760 server with RAID PERC H755N and NVMe drives:
Prerequisites:
- Dell Poweredge R760 server with RAID PERC H755N and NVMe drives.
- VMware ESXi 8.0 image.
- USB drive or DVD.
Installation steps:
1. RAID preparation:
- Enter the server BIOS.
- Select the RAID partition.
- Create a RAID array from your NVMe drives.
- Important: Use a RAID mode that VMware ESXi 8.0 supports.
2. Booting from a USB drive or DVD:
- Connect the USB drive or DVD with the VMware ESXi 8.0 image to the server.
- Restart the server.
- During boot, press the key to select the boot device (usually F11 or F12).
- Select the USB drive or DVD with the VMware ESXi 8.0 image.
3. Installing VMware ESXi:
- Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Select the installation language.
- Accept the terms of the license agreement.
- Select the installation location (the RAID array you created).
- Configure network settings.
- Enter the password for the root user.
- Complete the installation.
4. Configuring VMware ESXi:
- After installing VMware ESXi, you need to perform a number of settings:
